Introduction to Diodes
This week we will perform the first diode experiment Introduction to Diodes in D.C. Circuits. You will be provided with a printed copy in class/lab. A pdf is attached below.
A supporting Excel Chart was also added for your convenience. This file contains the charts used in the lab. Excel will be used throughout the course and lab to create tables and graphs of data. You are expected to become familiar with its capabilities as we work through the semester.
How to create Excel Chart and post here in the Forums as shown below. Your graph should look a bit better as mine was made using guesstimated values.
PROCEDURE:
1.) If you download the "Diode Lab #2 Charts v19.1a.xlsx" file below and then double click on it on the computers in lab, it should automatically open up the file in Excel. Otherwise, open Excel then navigate to File>Open and open the file.
2.) As shown in class, fill in the charts on the "Step #2" sheet in the Excel file.
3.) Select the Vd and Id columns together, click on the "Insert" tab and select the "Scatter" graph with "Smooth lines and markers". You should now have a graph that looks similar to the one below.
4.) Obtain a screenshot of your Diode Data Table and the Forward Bias Graph. Here's a link on How to Take A Screenshot in Office 2016 or use the Snipping Tool built into Win7, 8 & 10.
5.) Create or Edit your post in this Topic and Attach your picture. You can Preview your post before you Submit if you want to make sure it looks proper. You can select "Place inline" if you want the picture to be in a specific part of your post. To do so, put the cursor at the intended target area and the click on "Place Inline".
