Week #1: (9/7) Digital Circuit Fundamentals

Post by rjagodowski »

Please review the material in the link below as a review or introduction to digital circuits.

http://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/boolean/bool_1.html Read pages 1 through 7.

(The following link was broken. It is now fixed and functional.)
Another site that we'll be using is http://www.play-hookey.com/digital/. We'll begin with Basic Gates in the Combinational Logic section. Observe that many of the digital circuits are interactive, allowing you to change the inputs and observe the effect on the output.

We'll use this Cisco Link Numbering Systems Tutorial based upon the Cisco CCNA Program as an introduction/review of Decimal & Binary Number systems: http://www.semsim.com/ccna/tutorial/bin ... /START.swf, and the following sites http://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/binary/bin_1.html plus BCD (binary coded decimal) http://www.tpub.com/neets/book13/53s.htm.

Most modern personal computer operating systems include a calculator application which will normally perform base conversions. If you have a mobile device, there are numerous apps available that will also do base conversions. Here's just one (of many) websites that will convert between binary, decimal and hexadecimal http://www.mathsisfun.com/binary-decima ... erter.html.
