Week #1: (9/4-7) Chapter 1

Post by rjagodowski »

On Friday (9/7) we will discuss the first chapter in the text, Introduction to Safety.

NOTE: During the first week of class you will be/were given a set of handout sheets for the first three chapters of the text which you can use until you purchase your books. Once you have your own books, you MUST return these handout sheets to your professor. Un-returned or defaced handouts will result in a penalty to your course grade. If you prefer an electronic version, you may find the pdfs Here in the Registered Users Only area.

This class only lasts for 5 weeks. Our normal pace is to cover 1 chapter per class or 3 chapters per week. Do not fall behind.

Throughout the semester I will post links of industrial safety & health examples. Some good, some not so good.

Here's a recent example of an accident which could've easily been avoided which, sadly, resulted in the loss of life of a coworker. Bumble Bee Tuna Processing Plant Accident, 2012

Indiana Plant Fined After Employee's Death in Drill Press Accident plus another link to the story & video.
