Week #15: (4/29-5/3) Chapter 8 in the Bartelt Text

Post by rjagodowski »

This week we will finish the discussion of the Week #14: PID Controller Math and then begin discussing Chapter 8 in the Bartelt Text on Analytical Instrumentation.

The PowerPoint presentations can be found here and the text & homework solutions can be found here.

Part of this chapter deals with measuring the conductivity of a material. A little background about Werner Von Siemens and his contributions to Electrical Engineering, including building the world's first electric elevator back in 1880. Before Siemens was defined as the SI unit of conductance back in 1971, the term used for conductance, admittance & susceptance was the mho (ohm spelled backwards) and used the upside-down electronic symbol of the traditional omega used for ohms. You might still stumble across this notation in older books.
