Day 4 (2/11) Electrical Safety.

Post by rjagodowski »

Here are some links and handouts from today's class.

This pdf from NIOSH - National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, has some great information about electrical safety as well as numerous case studies. We'll spend a good part of tonight's lecture discussing this document. A printed copy will be provided to you in class on 2/11. Here's another pdf of an Electrical Hazard Study Guide:

I won't print this out, but it's worth a look.

Which is More Dangerous to the Human Body - AC or DC?

NOTE: I've used Home Depot links below, but there is no endorsement of Home Depot implied or otherwise. They are just convenient and I used the same vendor for consistency.

Non-Contact Electrical Tester from Klein available at Home Depot.

Klein GFCI Receptacle Tester available from Home Depot.

Klein Electrical Test Kit - Wiggy, GFCI/Receptacle Tester & DMM available from Home Depot.

ArcFlash Links:

These are the same links as posted in Day #1.

Here's a very informative book on ArcFlash: DO NOT PRINT THIS, IT IS A LONG DOCUMENT!!!!! You can register here to receive this directly from the publisher and see other related content they have available.

The above document is WAY more detailed than we'll cover in a course such as this, and we'll mention more about this in the chapter on Electrical Safety.
