Week #6: (10/15) Gas Laws & Pneumatic Components

We'll spend a bit more time discussing the Ideal Gas Law and working through a problem or two from that website.

As an FYI, here's an interactive Periodic Table of the Elements. This might be needed if you are given the mass of a gas and need to convert to moles. The # of moles = # of grams * standard atomic weight. The standard atomic weight is the number underneath each element.


Some definitions for various system descriptions when dealing with gases.

An isothermal process is a change of a system, in which the temperature remains constant: ΔT = 0.

An isobaric process is one which takes place at a constant pressure: Δp = 0.

An isometric process is one which takes place within a constant volume: ΔV = 0.

An adiabatic process is one in which no heat is gained or lost during the process.

A diabatic process is one in which there is heat transfer.

Then we'll start Week #7 on Pneumatic Components

Very interesting. Some terminology I had not heard of before.
