Week #9: (11/5) Hydraulics

Post by rjagodowski »

This week we will begin studying hydraulics.

We'll start off by visiting the Wisc-Online Comparing Hydraulics and Pneumatics.

This Wisc-Online presentation showing the Physics Concepts in Hydraulics ties together some important concepts which we will use in hydraulics (and pneumatics) about work, motion, energy and power.

Functions of Hydraulic Oil presents the task that the hydraulic fluid has to perform in a hydraulic system.

If you have the Fluid Power text (not the lab manuals) you should read Chapter 2 on Liquid Properties and their Measurement.

Here are the Properties of Water from Wikipedia (check out the diagram of temperature distribution in a fresh water lake) and here's more than you'd probably ever want to know about the simple substance we call water.
