Week #6: Latches & Flip-Flops

Post by rjagodowski »

PLEASE NOTE: Monday, 10/12, is Columbus Day and there are no classes at STCC on that day. Tuesday, 10/13, will follow a Monday schedule, so all Monday classes will meet on Tuesday. Tuesday classes are cancelled for the week. Those of you in the Tuesday lab section WILL NOT have EET-200L lab on Tuesday this week. Thursday morning labs WILL meet as usual.)

We'll spend most of today's lecture going over these sheets on NOR and NAND Latches:
Lab 5 RS Latch NOR & NAND Worksheet v20.1.pdf
(81.36 KiB) Downloaded 108 times

This week we will begin the discussion of latches and flip-flops.
Sequential Logic. Latches & Flip-Flops. The content is pretty good BUT the truth tables they present are incorrect, so be wary.

This might be a better tutorial, as it doesn't contain errors in the truth tables that the above link has: SR Flip-Flops from LearnAbout-Electronics.org.

There are some good oscilloscope pics of bouncing switches on this website.

Topics: Discussion on RS Latches from NOR and NAND Gates.
RS Latch applications and J-K Flip-Flops. JK Flip-Flops and a quick look ahead to Counters.
