Week #13 & #14: Introduction to MicroSoft Visio for Fluid Power Diagrams

Post by rjagodowski »

VISIO ASSIGNMENT: This is the Visio Assignment which needs to be completed using MSVisio before the end of the semester. There is one Pneumatic diagram and one Hydraulic diagram. There is an Extra-Credit Pneumatic diagram (Fig. 19-2 from the Pneumatic Trainer Lab Manual) if you wish to work on that. Here is the pdf. A printed copy will be provided to you in class/lab.

This week you will be introduced to the Microsoft Program Visio with specific emphasis on its application to Fluid Power systems.

Due to the COVID-19 Limited Campus Population plan, you will have limited opportunity to perform this lab. Hopefully you'll be able to have enough exposure to the program to give you some ideas as to its capabilities.

Our discussion will include the basics, and I'll show you a sample Visio session by sharing the Visio program on my computer during our Zoom video class.

Microsoft Visio 2016 Tutorial for Beginners on YouTube (about 12 minutes long). We'll watch this together in class.

Then there's this link on Create a Pneumatic or Hydraulic Control System Diagram from Microsoft.

Not a Visio Demo, but an explanation of Hydraulic Diagrams and How to Read a Hydraulic Schematic.

Assignment: Before the Final Exam, use Visio to recreate 2 diagrams from either text of the Hydraulic/Pneumatic Trainers. Make sure your name is electronically printed on each of the diagrams you print & submit.
