Week #2: Scheduling, Sensors & Interfacing

(Last week we discussed safety. A brief & somber note about that. On Tuesday, 1/28/86 at 11:39am EST, the Space Shuttle Challenger suffered a catastrophic failure during it's 10th mission. Here's a Wikipedia description. The following paragraph is from the Wikipedia article:
The Rogers Commission found NASA's organizational culture and decision-making processes had been key contributing factors to the accident, with the agency violating its own safety rules. NASA managers had known since 1977 that contractor Morton-Thiokol's design of the SRBs (Solid Rocket Boosters) contained a potentially catastrophic flaw in the O-rings, but they had failed to address this problem properly. NASA managers also disregarded warnings from engineers about the dangers of launching posed by the low temperatures of that morning, and failed to adequately report these technical concerns to their superiors.

We will briefly discuss some scheduling concepts as you create a completion schedule for your Advanced Automation Project. Full discussion of Scheduling can be found Here, In Week #4 of EET-255 Advanced Topics In EET/Automation from Spring 2018.

Your group should submit a tentative schedule for your project by Thursday, 2/16. This schedule should include the major construction tasks, a BOM (bill of materials, with notation for items which must be purchased), an estimated weekly timeline for all tasks as well as a timeline for the completion of milestones, and notations of which team members will be assigned to each task. The schedule you submit can certainly be modified as the semester progresses, but it should be a good attempt at estimating the actual timeline.
