Traffic Light Project

Post by rjagodowski »

Please find attached the Traffic Light Project assignment for EET-260L for the Spring 2024 semester. This project will serve as your Mid-Semester Lab Practical Exam. Printed copies of this document are available in 17/507.

The completed project is due on or before 5:00 PM. on Thursday, March 21, 2024. Late submissions will be penalized. Each of the 3 parts must be demonstrated to receive full credit for that aspect of the assignment. If you don't complete all three parts, you need to demonstrate the parts you have completed to get credit for them.

All documentation and diagrams must be completed both in hardcopy and electronically.

Be sure to follow instructions carefully and make the proper posts as indicated as a Reply to this Topic. You should make a post when you begin the assignment, and then edit that post when you complete the assignment. An example of what your finished posts might look like is given below. Good Luck.

~~~SAMPLE POST FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT PROJECT~~~
February 21, 2024: I began working on the EET-260L Traffic Light Project.
March 14, 2024:
I completed my project, successfully demonstrated all aspects of the program to my instructor, have submitted the hardcopy and have emailed the required zipped files to my instructor.
Then after you demo your project and submit everything, I will edit your post to include a statement similar to this:
All aspects for the project operation have been verified and electronic and paperwork has been submitted. RJ 3/14/24.
2/20: created countdown program for 7 segment display. created simplified flowchart outlining the function of the entire program.
2/22: created complete flowchart for crosswalk and default mode functions. created complete schematic for physical circuitry. edited countdown program to work with my schematic. wired and tested the 7 segment display. wired entire circuit. programmed north/south light cycle and partially working crosswalk sequence.
2/27: completely remade circuit and schematic from scratch, everything works this time and there's now room for everything. the pushbuttons even work like they're supposed to :). completed programming for complete traffic light cycle as well as crosswalk sequence.
2/28: finished programming default mode, and by extension, the entire project is complete
2/29: showcased the boebot to Rick, tidied up the code to make it easily readable. created draw.io schematic and saved my flowcharts as pdfs for submission.
3/5: electronically submitted the midterm.
I witnessed the demonstration of all aspects of this project on Thursday, 3/29/24, including the extra credit assignment, and all of it worked properly. Electronic versions of the paperwork were received via email on 3/5/24. Nice work!!!
3/9: I started the project. I started with just one traffic light and programed it.
3/10: Today I wired the second traffic light and got it working with the first one. I completed step 1.
3/21: I spent the day trying to figure out step 2. I did not figure it out. I made flow charts and schematics. I presented step 1. Rick said I could work on it over the weekend.
3/23: I made progress on step 2 but I can't get the button to Latch. I forgot to grab a second board at school so I'll need to grab one on Tuesday and turn it in on Thursday.
3/25: I made progress on step 2 but can't get the button to unlatch.
3/28: I got the button to unlatch and presented step 2. I updated my schematic.
