Week #6 & #7: (10/11-10/23) BoeBot #2 & #3 (Table 3-1 Graph).

Post by rjagodowski »

You should continue working on your Boebot this week. You should complete Chapter 3 (including Table 3-1 and its graph) and begin working in Chapter 4. Remember to do the exercises at the end of each chapter.

NOTE: You do NOT have to create the Excel sheet yourself. Just download the file attached below.

Table 3-1 on page 97 of the text has you collect data points so that you can create a graph of the Rotational Velocity of the Servo Motors versus the Pulse Width of the servo control signal. The attached Excel file should facilitate your graphing. Download this file and open it in Excel (is on our computers in 20/M118). Complete the RPM values from the table you completed in your text and you should automatically see the data points appear on the graph as you complete the table. Remember that according to the text, clockwise (CW) is negative and counter-clockwise (CCW) is positive.

Create your graph using the Excel spreadsheet given above and post your data graph as a reply to this topic.
A sample post and instructions will be given as a Reply below.

NOTE: If you don't have Excel on your home computer, it is part of the MIcroSoft Office suite of products, which is available in numerous packages, including a student version. It is a pay product. A "free" alternative is LibreOffice and is available for free download for Windows, Mac & Linux operating systems. It is probably about 99% compatible with MS Office, though there are occasion differences. Considering it's cost (free) it's a great competitor to the MS Office and fits nicely into limited budgets. The Word processor is called Writer and the Spreadsheet is called Calc.

The procedure to create an Excel graph and post it here in the Forums is shown below. Your graph should look a bit better as mine was made using guesstimated values.

PROCEDURE:

1.) If you download the "Table 3-1 in the BoeBot Text v15.1.xlsx" file (posted in above Topic) and then double click on it on the computers in lab, it should automatically open up the file in Excel. Otherwise, open Excel then navigate to File>Open and open the file.

2.) As shown in class, fill in the charts on the "Step #2" sheet in the Excel file.

3.) As you input your RPM values for your BoeBot, you should see the resultant data points plotted on the graph.

4.) Obtain a screenshot of your Table 3-1 Data & Graph. Here's a link on How to Take A Screenshot in Office 2016 or use the Snipping Tool built into Win7, 8 & 10.

5.) Create or Edit your post in this Topic and Attach your picture. You can Preview your post before you Submit if you want to make sure it looks proper. You can select "Place inline" if you want the picture to be in a specific part of your post. To do so, put the cursor at the intended target area and the click on "Place Inline".

Table-3-1 data and the resulting graph.
